Pickleball noise prevents home sale
Roll your opponent off the court. Weekend results from Utah and Mumbai.
Yesterday in Williamsport, Pa., the Little League World Series came to a close. The annual tournament allows kids ages 10-12 from around the globe to compete on the same stage.
It was the squad from Lake Mary, Florida, that defeated Chinese Taipei to bring home this year’s championship.
As pickleball spreads internationally - evidenced by this past weekend’s Monsoon Pickleball Championship or the English Open earlier in the month - it is easy to imagine a world where pickleball allows a similar platform for youth to compete on a grand international stage like the LLWS.
Juniors in the U.S. have a head start and are already competing across the nation on the National Junior Pickleball Tour. Find a stop near you here.

🏆 Tardio and Fahey strike gold in SLC
It’s Monday, let’s win.
Create Space with a Topspin Roll
The roll volley is a shot somewhat unique to pickleball in the world of racquet sports. Most players coming from tennis are accustomed to slicing a volley as they close in on the net.
In pickleball, the roll volley is a great option to thwart your opponent's attempts to advance forward in the court. It is also a valuable weapon to attack with while at the kitchen line.
One aspect where it is underutilized is forcing your opponent to move from side to side.
As the returning team, your fourth shot should be focused on keeping your opponent back. While depth is the main focus, you should also experiment with roll volleys targeting the sidelines.
A topspin roll will kick up once it hits the ground
At the right angle, this will pull your opponent far off the side of the court
They'll have to hit a more difficult drop while on the move and you will have more open court to place your next shot as they try to recover
Making your opponent move is a great way to force simple mistakes. If you're able to move them from side to side, it is easier to expose a weakness like a poor backhand.
For example, use the roll volley to pull the right-side player out wide. As they try to recover, you will have more space to target their backhand with less threat of the left-side player stepping in to cover the weakness.
If the straight-ahead roll volleys aren't working to keep your opponents at bay, use your advantage in court position to create angles using roll volleys that target the sideline.
Personality Hats are in
Fashion has spoken, and the personality hat is all the rage these days. You know what that means? It means it’s a great time to put your logo on a hat.
Talking about all the rage these days, you’re going to want to make it a Branded Bills hat. They make quality merch people actually want to wear.
Don’t just take it from us, see what a happy client has to say about the branded hats they just ordered:
“They're wearing them to bowling alleys, sporting events, etc.” Rebecca Ferguson, Empire CAT

Pickleball Noise Preventing House Sale
There are a lot of factors that go into deciding what to look for in a new home. Is it in a good neighborhood, a good school district, or maybe most importantly for us, where are the closest pickleball courts?
For one home seller in a coastal town south of Boston, the selling point of “pickleball courts within walking distance” is actually a bad thing.
Boston.com shared the story of Judith Ann Roan Comeau, who has encountered some challenges trying to sell her home. Comeau claims that constant pickleball noise from the Sagamore Beach Colony Club courts has deterred potential buyers from pulling the trigger.
The courts are roughly 50 feet from the home, which to be fair, is too close for comfort.
Comeau has sought out help for the issue from the Pickleball Noise Relief Group and hired a lawyer to help find a solution with the club.
Don’t Break A Sweat
There’s no easy way to describe the thrill of speeding past people walking from their cars to the pickleball courts. While each person slowly arrives to put their paddle at the back of the rack, I’m already three games ahead without breaking a sweat. That’s all because I’m riding my e-bike right up to the paddle rack (through the empty tennis courts).
This picture-perfect life could also be yours if you upgrade your ride to one of Upway’s brand-new or certified e-bikes. And it gets better, we’ve got a hook-up that is going to save you $150 on your purchase.
So go ahead and click below to check out their bikes and treat yourself with code “THEDINK”.
Tardio and Fahey Top the Podium in Utah
Buy, buy, buy! There are new faces topping the podiums on the PPA Tour and if you haven’t bought in yet, now is the time.
Tardio Goes for Two
By now you should know the name Gabe Tardio. He’s had prolific wins on the PPA Tour in his young career, including a gold medal earlier this month and multiple victories over the top teams in the game.
Gabe won double gold in men’s and mixed doubles in Salt Lake City. Together with Andrei Daescu, Gabe swept the men’s field. And maybe the most talked about pairing of the weekend - Gabe and Jessie Irvine -surprised the field to upset Anna Bright/James Ignatowich for gold.
Fahey Wins her First
Another player you should be well aware of by now is Kate Fahey. Fahey seized the opportunity with Anna Leigh Waters and Catherine Parenteau taking the week off. She locked up her first PPA gold with a win over Kaitlyn Christian yesterday.
The Girlies Grab Another One
Anna Bright and Rachel Rohrabacher got back to their winning ways in Utah. ‘The Girlies’ are clearly the second-best women’s pairing in the game and the dropoff to third is getting wider. They took down Jorja Johnson/Mari Humberg on Championship Sunday.
Stack’em Up
Federico Staksrud continues to beat anybody on tour not named Ben Johns. The top seed took out both Johnson twins and Connor Garnett on his way to gold, and did so without dropping a single game.
Catch a full recap of the weekend including key takeaways and upsets from our pro pickleball guru Erik Tice. The PPA Tour is approaching two significant weekends with Las Vegas Pickleball Cup starting Wednesday and the Atlanta Slam September 11 - 15.
A Pickleball Monsoon in Mumbai
The Monsoon Pickleball Championship 2.0 showcased some of the best pickleball talent from across the globe this weekend. The five-day event was hosted at the NESCO center in Mumbai, India.
Pro players from the PPA and APP Tours with international roots were featured at the event and filled the podium:
Men’s Singles: Quang Duong
Women’s Singles: Pei Chuan Kao
Men’s Doubles: Quang Duong and Jay Devilliers
Women’s Doubles: Megan Fudge and Naimi Mehta
Mixed Doubles: Megan Fudge and Armaan Bhatia
Quang Duong and Megan Fudge both won two events in Mumbai. Duong paired up with Jay Devilliers to top Ryler DeHeart/Rob Nunnery in the men’s doubles finals. Duong and DeHeart also faced off in men’s singles where Duong again had the upper hand.
Megan enlisted the help of some local players to earn her gold. Armaan Bhatia - referred to as the “poster boy of Indian pickleball“ - was the difference in mixed and Naimi Mehta teamed up with Fudge to win gold in women’s. You can watch the gold medal matches here.
