🌵 Mesa, AZ: New Guilty Pleas in Fraud Case

One year after a fraud-laden sports mega-complex in Mesa, AZ, made headlines, two of the central characters have been slapped with additional jail time and fines in the millions. The saga of Legacy Park (aka Bell Bank Park) continues. See what’s new.

👍 We Tried It: 11Six24’s Long-Lasting HexGrit

Modern pickleball paddles are plenty powerful. But few focus on what really matters: surface grit that actually lasts. 11Six24 has cracked the code with HexGrit, a proprietary material they say will last the lifetime of the paddle. We’ve put a few hours on it so far. Now it’s hard to imagine playing without it.

🏆 42: Anna Leigh Triple Crowns in Texas

Anna Leigh won her Tour-leading 42nd Triple Crown over the weekend, a bonkers feat in its own right. More impressive still, she battled 40 mph wind gusts along the way. Even Mother Nature can’t slow her down. Full event results, right here.

Attack or Reset? This Matrix Lays It Out

It’s one thing to talk about situational pickleball. More helpful still to watch a solid instructional video about the X’s and O’s of a certain scenario.

But for all you visual learners, we’ve done you one better. Introducing the attack vs. reset decision matrix — a play-by-play breakdown of when to be aggressive and when to lay up.

The grid is broken down by ball height on the left and court location going across the top. Some of it plays out how you’d expect:

  • Overhead at the kitchen line: attack

  • Shoulder height from the midcourt: rip a good drive

  • Knee-height in the transition zone? Best to reset

But things get trickier when the ball’s at waist-level. More confusing still when it’s just brushing your shoelaces.

The matrix reinforces one thing you should be laser-focused on every time you hit the court: ball height is the great equalizer, but it’s also an opportunity.

Learn the matrix. Then get good enough to manipulate it. A third-shot lob from your ankles? Nice. Attacking in the transition zone? Even better. That’s how you get to the next level.

40 Paddles in the Rack. Four Courts.

You show up to open play. The courts are full.

You look over at the paddle rack…and there are 40 paddles waiting. Sound familiar?

Pickleball demand is exploding across the country — and communities everywhere are realizing the same thing:

They need more courts.

That’s where America Sports Construction comes in.

They design and build pickleball courts for parks, clubs, HOAs, and facilities nationwide — helping turn empty space into playable space.

The result?

More courts. Less waiting. More games.

Heavy Winds, Heavy Favorites: Full Winners from PPA Texas

Gusty conditions punctuated the PPA Texas Open from beginning to end. And they didn’t relent on Championship Sunday.

The 40 mph conditions were enough to wreak havoc on some points (and more than a few egos). But in the end, the top seeds proved once again why they’re the ones to beat.

Full Winners:

  • Women’s Singles: 🥇 Anna Leigh Waters def. 🥈 Kate Fahey

We’ve got a full event recap, including a fun rundown of total medals won by each MLP team, primed and ready.

The ‘Insane’ Schedule of Pickleball’s Top Pros

Over the weekend, NML Pickleball posted a question to X:

Jorja/Tyra, Christian/Hayden and the Johnson’s all losing today. The Johnsons’ loss was the only one that would have been on the radar as an upset. Is this just what happens when you play a bunch of tournaments or is there something else to it?”

It brings up a good question: Is fatigue a factor on the PPA Tour? Are players burnt out?

Anna Bright was quick to weigh in.

“We are tired,” she posted. For those of us making Sundays regularly, back to back tourneys are 14-day trips: 12 of those days are match days, and the other 2 days are travel. It’s insane.”

The Open Play Packing List

Headed to the courts?

Quick checklist:
Paddle
Balls
Water bottle
Extra overgrip you may or may not use

Now you just need somewhere to put it all.

Franklin’s pickleball bags are designed specifically for players — with dedicated space for paddles, gear, and separate compartments to keep things organized.

Because digging through a backpack or old grocery tote looking for your paddle while everyone waits… isn’t the vibe.

DUPR Reset Is Live: What You Need to Know

A new opportunity to reassess your pickleball rating begins today.

DUPR’s new Reset period is officially live, giving players a limited-time chance to update their rating using only recent match results — with zero downside.

The concept is simple: if you believe your current rating no longer reflects your true level of play, DUPR Reset allows you to prove it on the court.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Players who opt in will receive a separate Reset rating calculated using only matches played during the Reset window

  • At the end of the period, DUPR will compare that number to your existing rating and keep whichever is higher

  • Only matches submitted through DUPR-connected events, leagues, or clubs count toward the Reset; self-reported results are excluded

The first Reset window runs March 16 through May 17, 2026, and is open to any player who already has a rating. The cost is $35.
